Biography:

Brian Keyes is a board-certified Doctor of Osteopathy practicing in orthopedic surgery. He obtained his undergraduate degree in bacteriology from the University of Wisconsin in Madison, WI and earned his Doctor of Osteopathy degree from Midwestern University in Downers Grove, IL. He completed his residency in orthopedics at Detroit Medical Center/St. John Providence Health System in Detroit, MI. He then went on to complete his fellowship in joint replacement at Indiana University School of Medicine in Indianapolis, IN.

Dr. Keyes’ orthopedic practice is specialized to hip and knee reconstruction, which includes total hip and knee replacement, partial knee replacement, revision/re-do joint surgery, robotic-assisted joint replacement surgery, and minimally invasive surgical techniques. Dr. Keyes also has special interest in fracture care, most notably hip, wrist, and ankle trauma. Other medical interests include arthroscopic knee surgery for meniscus pathology and medical education.

Dr. Keyes practices at the SSM Health Dean Medical Group Clinics in Janesville and Stoughton, WI. He also sees patients at SSM Health St. Mary's Hospital in Janesville and at Stoughton Hospital in Stoughton.

Dr. Keyes is the author of several book chapters and scientific journals in his field of expertise. He has been invited by faculty and has also been a lecturer at several regional and national meetings in the field of joint reconstruction. Dr. Keyes served as an Assistant Professor of Orthopedic Surgery at the Indiana University School of Medicine where he trained surgeons from all over the United States. His peers have recognized Dr. Keyes as a leader in the field, by electing him as the 2018 President of the American Osteopathic Academy of Orthopedics Adult Reconstruction and Arthritis section. He currently serves as program director of the Wisconsin SSM Health Joint and Trauma Fellowship, educating orthopedic surgeons on surgical techniques and clinical outcomes data.

Dr. Keyes is married and has two sons who occupy a large majority of his free time. He enjoys supporting his sons in football, basketball, wrestling, and baseball including volunteer coaching in the baseball off-season for their individual teams. He is actively involved with the Belleville Youth Football and Baseball organizations and assists with their annual fundraiser. Dr. Keyes is a life-long avid Wisconsin sports fan. He also stays active through personal fitness and enjoys cutting wood, working on his property, and reading.

Dr. Keyes and his boys are passionate about hunting. As a family, they also enjoy travel when possible. Warm weather climates and cities throughout the United States have been common destinations for recreation. Particularly, they enjoy taking an annual fishing trip to the Florida gulf coast.

I gravitated towards joint replacement as it is extremely rewarding to relieve my patients of their arthritis pain and restore their function. I am motivated by my patients’ expectations and constantly strive for clinical excellence. Throughout my practice, I have been involved as an educator. I enjoy educating my patients on their treatment options to help them meet their personal goals.
