Help put an end to the pediatric transplant waiting list.
Heart transplants are performed to replace diseased hearts with healthy, donor hearts. Your child's heart might not work right for many reasons. Sometimes, babies are born with heart defects that cause their hearts to fail. These defects are the main cause of heart transplants in babies. In children and teenagers certain heart conditions, such as cardiomyopathy, myocarditis and abnormal heart rhythms, can cause the heart to fail, necessitating a heart transplant. If you doctor recommends a heart transplant for your child, you will be referred to our transplant team for an evaluation to determine if your child is a candidate.
The heart transplant team is recognized for long-standing expertise in the evaluation and treatment of congenital and acquired heart disorders. We are committed to improving outcomes for children who need heart transplants by offering the most innovative care available.
This commitment is reflected in our outcomes. Between 2011 and 2019, 86.5% of our heart transplant patients have survived with a graft survival rate of 90% or higher. For more detailed information about our outcomes, please contact us.
