Pastoral Care

At SSM Health hospitals, we are committed to revealing the healing presence of God through our exceptional health care services and through prayer.

Our chapels are open 24 hours for prayer and meditation. Please see your hospital’s information for hours on when mass is held. You can request our chaplains dialing “0.”

SSM Health has chaplains available to offer support and comfort at times of illness, injury and crisis. Chaplains honor the sacredness and dignity of all persons at every stage of life. When requested to do so, spiritual care staff will contact the patient's own clergy.

How Can a Chaplain Help?

  • Listening
  • Praying with you
  • Supporting you through difficult decisions
  • Helping you to discover or use your faith resources
  • Responding to your fear, anxiety and grief
  • Providing sacraments
  • Assisting you with advance directives for health care

Holy Communion is offered daily to our Catholic patients and to our Protestant patients upon request. Sacrament of Anointing of the Sick and Sacrament of Reconciliation may be celebrated with patients and their families upon request.

Your own minister, rabbi or priest is always welcome to visit you while you are here. If you need assistance contacting them, please let us know.
